Latest Corporate Transparency Act Guidance: Interim Final Rule Issued
The federal Financial Crimes Enforcement Network has issued an interim final rule revising certain aspects of the Corporate Transparency Act reporting requirements. The interim rule provides significant relief to U.S. entities, exempting them from the requirement to report beneficial ownership information. Procopio's Orange County Office Growth Recognized by Orange County Business Journal
Our rapid growth in Orange County has been recognized by the Orange County Business Journal! In their most recent rankings of 93 law firms with offices in the county, Procopio's attorney count exceeded more than half of them. We ranked #40 out of 93, an increase from #51 last year.
We opened our Orange County office in early 2020 shortly after the start of the pandemic with one attorney. Now we have over 30, with more joining us every month!

Corporate law Partner James Kramer talks all things M&A April 17 in a thought-provoking panel organized by the San Diego CFO Leadership Council and hosted at the San Diego office of KPMG. James will walk CFOs through key phases for M&A success, from initial preparation and valuation enhancement to navigating complex negotiations and post-merger integration.
International Tax Senior Counsel Jorge M. Obén-Cuadros takes his insights to Europe in April, speaking on "Transatlantic Tax Incentives and Countermeasures: Navigating Minimum Taxes and Regulatory Challenges" at the 25th annual U.S. and Europe Tax Practice Trends conference in Amsterdam, conducted by the American Bar Association Tax Section. In his April 11 session, Jorge and his fellow panelists will dive into the evolving landscape of tax incentives, the impact of minimum taxes, and the regulatory shifts affecting businesses and governments on both sides of the Atlantic. The conference runs from April 9 to 11. Jorge is based in Procopio's Washington, D.C., office. He previously was an international counsel for the IRS and detailed to the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee.

A behind-the-scenes tour was conducted recently of the San Diego Gas & Electric Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for members of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Sustainability & Industry Committee, including Partner John Lormon, who has served as outside counsel for many companies in the energy industry. The EOC operates as a hub for R&D and solution implementation to provide a swift response to regional threats such as fire in coordination with emergency responders, combining AI and predictive modeling. SDG&E says it is one of the most technologically advanced such centers in the U.S.
