3 Procopio Attorneys Named Northern California Super Lawyers
Mindy Morton, Tyler Paetkau and Brooke Oliver have been recognized by their peers as 2021 Northern California Super Lawyers. All three work in Procopio’s Silicon Valley office. Each year, no more than 5% of the lawyers in the state of California are named a Super Lawyer.
Mindy was recognized for Intellectual Property Litigation, Tyler for Labor and Employment Law, and Brooke for Intellectual Property Law. Earlier this year, 19 Procopio attorneys in 12 practice areas were named San Diego Super Lawyers or Rising Stars.
Procopio Attorneys Adriana Ochoa and Sara Neva Named 2021 Women of Influence in the Law
Procopio Partner Adriana R. Ochoa and Senior Associate Sara G. Neva were honored by the San Diego Business Journal as 2021 Women of Influence in the Law. This honor was awarded by a distinguished panel of judges to a select few female attorneys practicing in San Diego County who have excelled in their careers and positively impacted the community.
This is not the first honor for either of these attorneys. Ochoa has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for several years running, and was recognized for her pro bono work with the Casa Cornelia Pro Bono Publico Award and the State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Award. Neva has also been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the last two years, and was named a 2020 Next Top Business Leader under 40 and a 2019 Leaders in Law Rising Star by the San Diego Business Journal as well as a Top Attorney by San Diego Metro magazine.
Two Procopio Partners Elected to the California Lawyers Association Board of Directors
Procopio Partners Michele B. Brown and Enrique Hernández-Pulido have been elected to the California Lawyers Association Board of Representatives for a two-year term. Their Representative positions were confirmed in a vote held Friday, June 11, by the incumbent Board of Directors. Brown will represent the CLA’s Family Law Section and is co-Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) and Hernández-Pulido will represent the International Law and Immigration Section.
For Brown, this is her third term as a Representative on the CLA Board as the Family Law Section representative and co-chair of the GAC. Brown was a member of the inaugural Board of Representatives for CLA and assisted in its formation as the Sections separated from the State Bar of California, creating the largest bar association in the state and the second largest in the US—second only to the ABA. While this is Hernández-Pulido’s first term as a CLA Representative, he previously was chair of the International Law Section and of the International Tax Committee of the Tax Section of the California State Bar.
Procopio Continues Commitment to Diversity Recruitment and Advancement with Submission to Renew Mansfield Rule Certification
Procopio has again demonstrated its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion by seeking to renew its Mansfield Rule certification from Diversity Lab. The firm achieved this prestigious certification in 2020, recognizing that it considered at least thirty percent women, lawyers from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, lawyers with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ lawyers for top leadership roles, senior-level lateral hiring, promotions into the equity partnership, and participation in client pitch meetings. Procopio has officially certified that it has met, and in many cases exceeded, those goals in the last year.
“We’re honored to participate again in the Mansfield Rule program,” said Mindy Morton, a Partner in Procopio’s Silicon Valley office and leader of the firm’s Mansfield certification process. “While our high rankings in AmLaw 200 and Law360 diversity lists recognize our growing attorney diversity, certification as a Mansfield firm reflects our commitment to advancing diverse attorneys within the firm and the legal profession.”
